The Service Agency Partnership Initiative (S-PI) terminated its work after two successful years for the reconstruction in the Tsunami areas at the end of 2006. The Service Agency Communities In One World, in which the S-PI comes up, takes on the further consultation and company of the partnership projects the service station municipalities in the world.

Houses in MataraAfter the tsunami in Asia on 26 December 2004, the German central government set up the Service Agency – Partnership Initiative within the Service Agency Communities in One World /InWEnt. This Service Agency serves as a central contact office for the numerous German districts, organisations, companies and schools that are committed to helping rebuild the destroyed regions. The main goal of the Partnership Initiative and its Service Agency is to establish sustainable long-term partnerships.

The Service Agency connects people from all over Germany who offer aid or partnerships with suitable partners and projects in Asia. It strengthens the donor community, creating networks by liaising with different partners. Furthermore, it assists the partnerships by offering information and advice relevant to development.

The Partnership Initiative's political leadership committee is a joint body of the German central government, federal states and local governments.
